The goal of youth formation at St. Johns is to create spaces for children to come closer to God. We strive to help children feel comfortable, loved, safe, and valued at church, to teach them about the roots of our faith, prepare them for active participation in a community of faith and worship, and encourage them to live and share the values of our traditions.
The First Sunday of Every Month we hold Children's Chapel during the sermon and prayers of the people. This allows children a chance to hear an age-appropriate lesson on the readings of the day or the season. Adults are always welcome to attend with their child, but the lesson is always geared toward children.
A Confirmation class is also convened annually, typically geared toward eighth graders. The timing of these meetings is dependent on the available Spring confirmation dates. Please be in touch with our clergy for more information about the current offering.
Children age 6 and under are invited to the child care program, held in the basement and supervised by two adults.
Youth are also encouraged to become active members of our parish by serving in worship.
